FAQ’s

Can I use MLP lesson plans with any age pupil?

Yes, although we recommend you adapt your teaching method for younger pupils or adults who may be struggling in lessons. Feel free to spend more than one lesson working on a particular lesson plan if needed.

How much should I charge pupils for a lesson?

We recommend between £20 - £25 and the Musicians union recommends between £25 – £26. However, remember you have lesson plans which means you are not spending hours and hours every week preparing lessons.... so why not under cut your competition by  £2 or £3, you will attract & retain more pupils!

Additions:

£4.99 for enrolment should you wish to teach pupils found by yourself from our lesson material. (NOT INCLUDING DRUM LESSONS PLANS which is free)

We recommend a home visit fee of £5 +  80p per mile (petrol allowance).

Can I choose my own teaching times?

Yes, we will not book a specific time with the pupil. Once payment has been made for the introductory lesson you will be forwarded the pupil’s contact details. You can then arrange the lesson time & date. As the tutor you will then arrange and take payment for all further lessons.

How long does it take to build a decent pupil base?

Any amount of time! All locations are different, we do our best to have a great web presence but we do suggest you take advantage of every area of advertising you can.

Am I allowed to use the lesson material offered by Music Lessons Plus with pupils that I find myself?  (Drum lesson plans are free to anyone, the following does not apply to drum plans)

Yes, however the pupil must pay an enrolment fee of £4.99, they are then permitted to use and be taught from our lesson material. If the enrolment fee is not paid to MLP both tutor and pupil are in breach of copyright laws. Our course notes do enforce this term. We ask that as one of our represented tutors you also ensure your pupils pay the enrolment fee. The authors of our lessons have worked very hard and continue to do so, we ask you to treat this rule with respect.

A pupil can pay an enrolment fee online by credit/debit card or by cheque. Please refer pupils to this webpage (also stated on each lesson plan): www.musiclessonsplus.co.uk/enroll
